One spine, one ember, and a fixed budget of attention
Okibi is a complete design language for screens you stare at for hours: a theme is an attention-allocation policy. This site is its source of truth — the doctrine, the exact tokens, the code-highlighting system, and ready-made artifacts — written so that both people and LLMs can build with it directly.
Six convictions, settled
Every rule on this site derives from these. If a decision isn't covered, derive it from here — don't invent sideways.
Conserve salience
Total emphasis is fixed. Every element lit dims every other. Under ~15% of any view carries colour at rest.
Luminance leads, hue is rationed
Hierarchy rides lightness and weight. Hue marks a few nominal categories, kept muted.
One ember, kept sacred
The single warm accent means "here / act" — cursor, focus, primary action. Never a token, never a link, never decoration.
Calm over clever
Near-monochrome, low saturation, muted ground. Calm-at-rest is a hard requirement, not a preference.
The rule is constant
Predictability is the contract. Transitions are cuts; state changes fire on intentional boundaries, never on drift.
Redundant where it counts
Anything that must be told apart carries a second channel beyond hue — shape, weight, underline style.
The site
Everything is live. The examples and the experiment run the same tokens this site documents.
The 12-step spine, the ember, pigments, identity tints, type, surfaces, motifs — with the laws that settle arguments.
open →The dynamic three-band highlighting system: rationale, the capability ladder, terminals — with the full algorithm one link away.
open →The prose register: sigils are furniture, weight-led headings, the yamabuki highlight — every element in one specimen.
open →Token browser with click-to-copy hex for both grounds, and every generated artifact: VS Code themes, Obsidian snippet, web CSS, terminal scheme.
open →llms.txt + one concatenated llm-context.md — point a model at a single URL and it has the whole system, machine-readable.
open →Three complete pages embodying the system — a spec document, the editor workbench with the depth model live, and the 1920×1080 deck grammar.
